Ban single use plastic in the city centre

So many takeaways and shops still use plastic bags and give out plastic forks, we need a blanket ban on single use plastics in the city centre to reduce plastic waste.

Why the contribution is important

This would reduce the amount of harmful plastic waste going into landfill and being littered around the city. It would also mean there would be less demand for plastic, so less would be made, which is will reduce our carbon footprint.

Great idea! I always carry a fabric bag with me, we dont need a little bag every time we buy something

This would be good for nature too. Wildlife often mistake plastic for food or get entangled in plastic waste, leading to injuries and death. Banning single-use plastics can help protect animals and their habitats.

Seems like a bit of a waste of time with all of the plastic supermarkets are using, and would mean the smaller places have to fork out more on all new stock

Thank you for your input. We are working hard to ensure the litter in the city is taken care of and have been making plans to introduce stricter rules on single use plastics in the county.

Single-use plastics have played a vital role in ensuring public health and safety, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. Items like disposable gloves, masks, and other medical equipment have been essential in preventing the spread of infectious diseases and protecting frontline workers.
